Standard Gas Struts

Show Category Hierarchy

Standard Gas Struts are often referred to as Gas Shocks, Gas Pistons, or Gas Springs. They provide a “push” type force adding lift support or counterbalance in application. The Nitride Gas Strut (listed as GSNI or ‘N’) model combines cost effective steel construction with a nitrided rod for increased longevity and additional corrosion resistance. Nitride Gas Strut models surpass a 144-hour salt spray test per ASTM B117. Nitrided gas springs are black in appearance. Stainless steel (listed as GSSX or ‘S’) models utilize Type 316 stainless steel construction for maximum corrosion resistance, typically surpassing 500 hours of salt spray resistance. The rods are plated with a special chromium coating to increase hardness and reduce wear. Type 316 stainless steel provides the cleanliness and corrosion protection required for the marine, medical, and food service industries. Standard struts have damping on extension only.

Newly released: Associated Spring RAYMOND expanded our portfolio to include more than 12,000 pre-engineered precision nitride and stainless steel options. Offered in varied combinations of size, stroke, length, and force, the new expanded offering provides additional flexibility for how you want your application to perform.

NOTE: Extended Length (EL) is the measurement from the center of the defined rod end fitting to the center of the defined base end fitting. Where the end fitting is defined as NONE, the Extended Length defaults to 0.00.

The spring force listed in the data table is for the extended position of the strut; forces will increase slightly as the strut is compressed. End fittings are supplied as indicated in the data table, but Associated Spring RAYMOND offers a complete line of end fittings to suit your application.
