Associated Spring RAYMOND manufactures SPEC® stock compression springs, a type of mechanical wire spring that squeezes together to create a load, which means the spring gets shorter as the load is applied to it. Our stock compression springs are offered in a variety of materials, including stainless steel. Stainless steel is a material family that has additional chromium content, relative to steel, that provides additional corrosion protection. Different grades of stainless steel provide different properties and must be selected to match the application. Austenitic Stainless Steel
Our stainless steel compression springs are made with 300 series austenitic stainless steel, which is the most widely used grade of stainless steel. Austenitic steels contain chromium, nickel and low levels of carbon. They are non-magnetic and are not heat treatable.
